While the game is not complex nor it does want to be, it succeeds in building up a strong new female character — Ayumi, most likely a favorite for anime fans, and a nice fantasy universe setup for the possible sequels to come. Nicely done, Gaijin! Games32.com: X-Blades — review (English) Gamermode.com: X-blades — preview (English) X-Blades is a fantasy action game starring the deadly Ayumi, a female treasure hunter looking for (obviously) treasure. To help her on her journey she has two trust gunblades; imagine if Squall could dual wield, and you'll understand how awesome the idea is. Gamernode.com: X-blades — preview (English) Kotaku.com: X-blades — preview (English) You\'ve got your blades for close combat, your gun for taking out those annoying bastards who materialize in the air 10 feet above you, and a few spells at your disposal to keep things interesting. Kotaku.com: X-blades — preview (English) HookedGamers.com: X-blades — preview (English) X-Blades is certainly very easy to pick up and play. Guiding Ayumi through the game, hacking and slashing your way through countless of enemies is both fun and challenging at the same time. HookedGamers.com: X-blades — preview (English) IGN.com: X-blades — preview (English) Speaking of which, Ayumi may just take the crown for the tightest outfit in female videogame character history. We\'re not kidding when we say her outfit (which we've taken to calling the Battle Thong) looks like it was painted onto her body with an airbrush. IGN.com: X-blades — preview (English) Videogamer.com: X-blades — preview (English) There's hacking, slashing, soul collection, unlockable powers, dual gun blades, spells and time slowing special attacks. It's simple and easy to pick up and play. AtomicGamer: X-blades — preview (English) PSX Extreme: X-blades — preview (English) … X-Blades looks stunning. The environments, in particular, look downright beautiful, with gorgeous lighting that fills up the entire image, and a color palette so vivid that it oozes eye-candy. PSX Extreme: X-blades — preview (English) PlayMagazine.com: X-Blades — review (English) Speaking of her body, I’m sure you’ve noticed that Ayumi wears dental floss for underwear and likes to do battle dressed in as little clothing as possible. Makes you wonder whether or not there’s much of a game behind all that fan service, but I can assure you, if it’s lavish visuals and monster slaying you’re after, you can’t do better than X-Blades. The eye candy—and she’s just the beginning— is a bonus. GameRadio.de: X-Blades — review (German) GameRadio.de: X-Blades — review |
